AmsterDans International Competition offers the possibility to enter in three age groups:

- children 8-11 years old

- juniors 12-15 years old

- young adults 16-26 years old

In each age group, dancers may compete in the genres of ballet or modern contemporary dance. And in each genre, the following sections are possible (with multiple entries allowed):

- solos

- duets/trios

- groups (with a maximum of 18/20 dancers on stage)

There's an additional category for Emerging Choreographers (adult choreographers, of any age 18+), with a minimum of two dancers on stage and a maximum of twenty (of any age); and the choreography may be in any dance genre.

Are you an aspiring choreographer with a story to tell through movement?

This special category celebrates emerging creative voices who are ready to explore, experiment, and share their vision on stage. Whether you’re a student, a developing artist, or simply passionate about creating dance, this is your opportunity to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

Choreographers aged 16 and above are invited to present original work featuring a minimum of two and a maximum of twenty dancers of any age. Pieces may be created in any dance genre and must not exceed five minutes.

Designed to highlight original choreographic work across all styles, this category encourages you to take risks, blend influences, and express your unique artistic identity.

The jury will evaluate your piece based on the choreography—your concept, structure, and the way you integrate music, movement, and emotion to create a coherent and meaningful experience.

Cash prizes of up to €500 will be awarded to choreographers whose works stand out for their creativity, clarity, and artistic excellence. Performance opportunities may also be given as a prize.
