ABOUT US :
is the first international dance competition in the Netherlands. The purpose of AmsterDans festival is to provide an opportunity to dancers, dance schools, dance teachers and amateurs to come together in an atmosphere of friendly competition in order to learn from and inspire each other. While the competition is the most prominent event, during which there are masterclasses, network meetings and other activities where young dance artists and their teachers can meet each other and enrich themselves together.
The competition itself includes a number of categories including solos, duets, and group works, and the genres are ballet, contemporary/modern, and urban. Competitors will be grouped according to age.
The AmsterDans organization was born when four colleagues, all very experienced in different areas of the dance field, realized that the Netherlands missed this kind of dance event. In other countries many dancers and schools benefit from the possibilities that dance competitions offer. They not only are a source of motivation for dancers wishing to excel and show their talents, but also provide opportunities for dancers, teachers and choreographers to meet and compare their work. Developing pieces with the goal in mind of being able to show them, compare them, and perhaps win awards, can be a great stimulus and can help dancers of all levels to dance better and with more pleasure. The colleagues agreed that seeing other local dancers and schools and those from other countries is a great opportunity that should be available in The Netherlands, and with the establishment of AmsterDans, this will finally be possible!
The Directors Savina Marasi, Gary Feingold, Gaia Lemmi and Fabio Franchini are glad to say "Welcome to AmsterDans" !!!
